Sculptural work
A Primary school recently produced an amazing production of the show The Lion King Jr. I made the props for it in between lessons using materials found around the school. The masks are made from paper Papier-mâché and painted with poster paints, the 13 pairs of Wildebeest horns are made from cardboard and the gazelle horns from pipe cleaners.
During my Fine Art degree, I chose to study sculpture as my discipline. I wanted to learn as many new techniques as I could before leaving university and sculpture seemed to offer the most in terms of new materials and new skills.
I worked with many different materials including, leaves, ice, snow , bark and apples and I learnt skills in welding and stone carving.
I used my new found skills in working in 3D to create a stop motion animation for my final piece. Working in placticine and clay for the characters in my animations, I used casting methods and woodworking to create the sets.
